The Situation

A Carrier in Growth, Not in Recovery

Air Astana is Kazakhstan's flag carrier and part of the largest airline group in Central Asia and the Caucasus. In 2025, the Air Astana Group carried a record 9.7 million passengers across a network of more than 132 routes spanning 22 countries. As the airline continues to expand its network and serve growing passenger demand, maintaining coordination, consistency, and operational control across ground operations becomes increasingly critical.

As flight volumes increase and new stations come online, ground operations face compounding demands. More aircraft movements. More resource dependencies. More operational complexity across multiple locations.

That context matters because it changes the nature of this technology decision entirely.

Air Astana was not looking for a solution to fix a struggling operation. It was making a strategic investment in the operational capabilities required to support long-term growth while maintaining efficiency, coordination, and service quality.

Why the Traditional Model Doesn't Hold at Scale

Ground operations is where an airline's plan meets reality. Flights arrive late. Equipment is unavailable. Staff constraints change mid-shift. Aircraft movements ripple through the day. Each disruption is manageable alone. Across a multi-station network running hundreds of daily rotations, however, disruptions compound quickly, impacting resource availability, coordination, and turnaround performance.
